Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, can't catch a break. On Sunday, rain interrupted the resumption of their suspended game against the Mississippi Braves from Saturday, forcing the two teams to suspend play for the second time in as many days.

The two sides, who progressed only seven outs further during Sunday's action, will now play a double-header on Monday and another twin-bill on Tuesday to complete their five-game series.
Monday's double-header action will begin at 5:05pm CT at The Ballpark at Jackson, starting with the resumption of Saturday's twice-suspended game that will be played to a nine-inning regulation length. The second game of Monday's double-header will have a regulation length of seven innings, as will both games on the following day. The Tuesday twin-bill is set for 12:05pm CT. Pitching matchups for the remainder of the series have yet to be announced.
When play was stopped in the bottom of the fourth inning on Sunday, Mississippi's lead had been cut to 4-1. Generals catcher Daulton Varsho hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third inning off of Jasseel De La Cruz, scoring Ben DeLuzio from third base to plate the Generals' first run. Left-hander Bryan Valdez took over in the fourth inning in place of Bo Takahashi, and he retired three Braves hitters in a row to bring the Generals back to the bat rack. Jackson earned three walks against De La Cruz in the fourth inning before play was halted by crew chief Jonathan Parra and the field was tarped. At the moment of suspension, Drew Ellis, Jamie Westbrook and Ramon Hernandez were on the basepaths for the Generals, with two outs and a two-strike count on Valdez.
Entering play on Sunday, the Generals (34-27) and Braves (27-32) had played only once in 2019, with Mississippi winning Friday night's game by a 7-6 score. The Generals began the day 2.5 games behind the Montgomery Biscuits in the North Division standings with nine games remaining in the Southern League's First Half, but Montgomery's victory over Jacksonville in the late afternoon put the Biscuits (38-24) back up by 3.5 games. Chattanooga (34-27) lost a one-run nail-biter at Tennessee on Sunday to fall back into a tie for second place with the Generals.
