Biloxi, Miss. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, used a pair of run-scoring doubles to post a 5-1 win over the Biloxi Shuckers at MGM Park on Monday.

The Generals (59-46) gained a two-to-one edge in their series with the Shuckers (64-43) despite allowing a late ninth-inning run.
Through four scoreless innings, neither side could get a head start, as Jackson's Emilio Vargas (2-3, 4.91 ERA) and Biloxi's Drew Rasmussen and Johan Belisario (8-1, 3.14 ERA) allowed just three combined hits. Belisario ran into trouble in the fifth inning, when a two-out, bases-clearing double by Jamie Westbrook broke the offensive silence for a 3-0 lead. Belisario finished the inning, but he got into quicksand again by giving up a four-pitch walk to Drew Ellis and a single to Jazz Chisholm to start the sixth inning. Belisario's day boiled over when he was ejected by home plate umpire Sam Burch after the single allowed to Chisholm, but the mess he left behind came back to haunt Biloxi. Daniel Brown replaced Belisario and promptly notched a pair of strikeouts, but Ramon Hernandez launched a first-pitch double to right field that scored both Ellis and Chisholm for a 5-0 lead.
Biloxi's only answer was a late breakup of the shutout, as Dillon Thomas singled home Bruce Caldwell in the bottom of the ninth to keep the Shuckers from being held scoreless. Jackson is now 6-2 against Biloxi this season. Reliever Kevin McCanna weaved a trio of scoreless innings in relief, while Damien Magnifico finished the game by allowing a run on two hits in the ninth inning. Chisholm was the only General with multiple hits, though Westbrook and Hernandez each drove in multiple runs.
