JACKSON, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, won their first series of the Second Half on Saturday, beating the Mobile BayBears 8-3 at The Ballpark at Jackson.

The win for the Generals (49-43, 10-13 Second Half) was their third in a row, marking their first three-game win streak on consecutive days since June 13-15 at Jacksonville. The Baybears dropped to 48-42 overall in the loss, falling to 11-11 in the Second Half.
For the second time in as many nights, a Generals starting pitcher worked into the sixth inning or beyond, as Joel Payamps (8-3, 3.03 ERA) collected his team-best eighth win. Payamps finished six innings allowing five hits and one run while walking a batter and striking out three. Daniel Gibson, Payamps' replacement, recorded a pair of outs in the seventh but was tagged with two runs. Bud Jeter (S, 1) worked the final 2.1 frames, picking up the save with a season-high five punchouts.
The Jackson offense competed gamely against Mobile right-hander Jeremy Beasley (1-1, 3.60 ERA), accruing 14 hits while going 3-for-9 with men in scoring position. An RBI single from Alberto Rosario scored Daniel Robertson in the second inning for the game's first run, and the Generals tacked on another run two innings later with an RBI double from Jay Gonzalez that once again brought home Robertson. A two-run homer from Domingo Leyba in the fifth inning---his second in as many nights---gave the Generals some breathing room at 4-1, and Tyler Ladendorf would swat his own homer an inning later to make it 6-1 Jackson. Robertson's third hit of the night (and ninth of the series) drove in two runs in the seventh, as the Generals put up at least eight runs in a game for the third game in a row, a season-best streak. The series win is only Jackson's third since April.
