Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, scored a series victory over the Biloxi Shuckers on Friday, winning a 4-3 game at The Ballpark at Jackson.

The Generals (38-30) picked up their third consecutive win over the Shuckers (40-28) by taking their second one-run victory in a row, improving their record in one-run games to 10-12 this season.
Biloxi right-hander Trey Supak is a 2019 Southern League All-Star for a reason, and he pitched like it, keeping Jackson hitless until a Jazz Chisholm triple in the fifth inning. The Generals capitalized with a Ramon Hernandez RBI groundout that scored Chisholm, gaining their first run to cut the Biloxi lead to 2-1. The real damage came against a suddenly fallible Shuckers bullpen in the sixth, wherein Drew Rasmussen (1-2, 4.50 ERA) gave up the lead.
Ben DeLuzio led off and reached after interference was ruled on Biloxi catcher Max McDowell, and Andy Young followed with a walk. Two batters later, Daulton Varsho walked to load the bases, and Jamie Westbrook stepped to the plate with a chance to take the lead for the second night in a row. Westbrook's go-ahead RBI single on Thursday night had given the Generals the lead for good, and for the second night in a row, the Southern League All-Star found a solution. As Biloxi first baseman Weston Wilson crept onto the infield grass, Westbrook slashed a groundball down the first base line that tap-danced right over the base and went skipping into the right-field corner, clearing the bases to vault the Generals ahead at 4-3.
Presented with the lead, Jackson right-hander Kevin McCanna (3-3, 2.49 ERA) rolled up the windows and sped on, stranding a lead-off walk in the seventh inning and leaving three men marooned on base in the eighth with a bases-loaded strikeout of Jake Gatewood. Doug Drabek turned the ninth inning over to Damien Magnifico (S, 3), and the veteran finished his third game in four days, posting a 1-2-3 ninth inning to secure the series victory. The gritty work of Magnifico, McCanna (62 pitches thrown on 2 days rest), and starter Connor Grey (92 pitches on 2 days rest) got Jackson the win despite each man holding a heavy workload this week.
