MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp scored a first-inning run, but the Montgomery Biscuits scored three sixth-inning runs for a 3-1 win in Wednesday's finale of a five-game series at Montgomery Riverwalk Stadium.

The Jumbo Shrimp (16-23) scored their only run against Biscuits left-hander Kyle Bird, making his first career start in 157 professional appearances. Mason Davis hit a leadoff single to right field, stole second base and went to third base on a wild pitch. With one out, Bird hit Isan Díaz in the helmet with a pitch. He was removed from the game, after which manager Randy Ready said of the injury on the hit-by-pitch: "It was a direct blow, and precautionary that we took him out of the game. He was a little woozy at first. We've been evaluating him the last couple hours through the game, keeping guys (in the clubhouse), just keeping an eye on him. Right now he feels tired, but he's alert and he's conscious. Taking him out of the game, health is our number one concern with the players, and right now we'll just keep a close eye on him and evaluate him again tomorrow, probably with a concussion test."

Chris Diaz replaced Isan Diaz as a pinch runner. Bird walked left fielder Cade Gotta and hit first baseman Eric Jagielo to score a run. Right fielder John Norwood grounded into an inning-ending double play. Following Bird's perfect second inning, Biscuits right-hander Yoel Espinal, left-hander Travis Ott (1-1) and left-hander Matt Krook each worked two scoreless innings. Left-hander Jordan Harrison pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his first save.
Jumbo Shrimp right-hander Max Duval (1-5) shut out Montgomery (16-24) for the first five innings on three hits and no walks with five strikeouts. In the sixth inning, the first four Biscuits had hits. Center fielder Thomas Milone and designated hitter Michael Russell both singled to right field. First baseman Dalton Kelly hit a game-tying RBI double to right field, and third baseman Jake Cronenworth hit a go-ahead RBI single to right field. Left fielder Brandon Lowe added a one-out RBI single to extend the lead to 3-1 and chase Duval, who allowed three earned runs on eight hits and no walks with six strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. Right-hander Jorgan Cavanerio entered and induced a ground-ball double play to end the inning. He also worked scoreless seventh and eighth inning for Jacksonville to keep the deficit at 3-1.
