JACKSON, Tenn.  - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (1-2) defeated the Jackson Generals (2-1) by a 3-2 score in the third game of the five-game series at The Ballpark at Jackson on Saturday night.

Jacksonville right-handed starter Jeff Brigham (1-0) earned the win in his Double-A debut, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing two hits, walking one, and collecting eight strikeouts. Jackson right-handed starter Sam Lewis (0-1) took the loss, allowing three runs (all earned) on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Jacksonville right-handed relief pitcher Marcus Crescentini earned the save by getting the final outs in the ninth, despite allowing a run in that frame.

For the third straight day, Jacksonville scored a run in the top of the first, as Eric Jagielo delivered an RBI double to put the Jumbo Shrimp ahead 1-0. Two innings later Jagielo hit the first Jumbo Shrimp homer of the year, a two-run shot to right to grow the lead to 3-0.

Brigham kept the Generals off the board through his five innings, and Jackson did not score until the seventh inning. Against Jacksonville reliever Esmerling De La Rosa, an infield single by Jose Vinicio with two outs brought in a run to get the Generals on the board at 3-1. With two outs in the inning, left-handed relief pitcher Jeff Kinley came in to get the final out and keep Jacksonville in front 3-1.

The Generals scored a run off Crescentini in the bottom of the ninth, with Alberto Rosario collecting a two-out RBI single to put the score at 3-2. Crescentini then struck out pinch-hitter Matt Jones to end the game for Jacksonville's first win of the year.
