JACKSONVILLE, F.L. – The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp fell behind early in a 10-1 loss to the Nashville Sounds Thursday night in front of 5,415 fans at 121 Financial Ballpark.

Nashville (22-10) jumped to an early lead in the top of the third against Jacksonville starter Max Meyer (L, 2-1). Mark Mathias(3) blasted a solo home run to start the inning. Mario Feliciano followed with a single. Two batters later, Brice Turang singled with two outs before both runners scored on a Keston Hiura (1) three-run home run to push the Sounds lead to 4-0.

Jacksonville (19-14) plated their only run in the bottom of the third. Charles Leblanc started the inning with an infield single and advanced to second on a wild pitch by Nashville starter Ethan Small (3-1). After two quick outs, Lorenzo Quintana hit a line drive off Small that rebounded to shallow right field, allowing Leblanc to score to cut the deficit to 4-1.

The Sounds’ offense kept swinging in the fifth. With one out, Wilson doubled and Hiura (2) blasted a two-run home run with two outs to pad the Nashville lead to 6-1.

The score remainded 6-1 until the top of the ninth. Mathias led off with a single and advanced to third on a single by Feliciano. Andruw Monasterio hit a sac fly, scoring Mathias to make it a 7-1 advantage for Nashville. Wilson singled in the next at-bat and Feliciano advanced to second. Turang walked to load the bases and Hiura continued his hot day with a single, scoring both Feliciano and Wilson to push the lead to 9-1. Turang advanced to third and then scored on a sac fly by Jon Singleton as the final Nashville tally, 10-1.

Jacksonville continues their series with Nashville Friday with first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m. The Jumbo Shrimp will turn to RHP Bryan Hoeing (1-0, 5.14), and the Sounds will counter with RHP *Dylan File *(2-0, 3.95). Coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN 690, ESPN690.com, and MiLB.tv.

Gates open at 6 p.m. for Red Shirt Friday, as Jumbo Shrimp players and staff will be wearing red each Friday to support the military. Fans who also wear red can save $1 on their ticket at the Miller Electric Box Office. It’s also Friday Night Lites at 121 Financial Ballpark, featuring $2 12 oz.
