Miami Marlins infielder Martín Prado has joined the Jumbo Shrimp on a transfer of a major league rehab assignment from High-A Jupiter. Prado has been on Miami's injured list since June 14 with a right hamstring strain. Prado with Jupiter played in three games, hitting .444 (4-for-9) with no home runs and one run batted in. Prado with the Marlins this season has played in 51 games, hitting .239 with a home run and 12 RBI, seeing time at first base and third base.

Prado is a 14-year major league veteran, and for his career is a .288 hitter with 99 home runs and 606 RBI. Prado, 35, is a native of Maracay, Venezuela, and this is his fifth season playing for the Marlins after he was acquired by the club in a trade with the New York Yankees on Dec. 19, 2014 in a deal that included the Marlins receiving David Phelps in exchange for Jacksonville alum Nathan Eovaldi, Garrett Jones, and Domingo Germán. Prado previously played in the big leagues with the Atlanta Braves (2006-12), Arizona Diamondbacks (2013-14), and Yankees (2014). Prado was a National League All-Star with the Braves in 2010. Prado started his career in the Braves organization, and played in the Southern League for the Mississippi Braves in 2005 and 2006, before rehab assignments with the club in 2008 and 2011. He also previously appeared on a rehab assignment with the Jumbo Shrimp in 2017.

Additionally, infielder Billy Fleming has been transferred to Jacksonville's injured list, retroactive to July 12. Fleming has played in 16 games for the Jumbo Shrimp, hitting .357 (20-for-56) with two home runs and eight runs batted in.

In a corresponding move, infielder Lazaro Alonso has been transferred from High-A Jupiter to Jacksonville. Alonso has played in 85 games for the Hammerheads, hitting .267 with seven home runs and 42 RBI. Alonso, 24, is a native of Pinar Del Rio, Cuba, and was signed by the Marlins as a minor league free agent on September 5, 2016.

The Jumbo Shrimp roster stands at 25 active players, plus Prado on his major league rehab assignment, and a revised roster is attached.
