BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (26-41) defeated the Birmingham Barons (27-39) by a 3-1 score in the second game of the five-game series at Regions Field on Thursday night.

Jacksonville right-handed starting pitcher Jorge Guzman (3-6) earned the victory by pitching six innings where he allowed a run on six hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Barons left-handed starting pitcher Tanner Banks (1-4) took the loss, working six and two-thirds innings where he allowed three runs (two earned) on 10 hits with no walks and five strikeouts. Jacksonville left-handed relief pitcher Dylan Lee earned his sixth save of the year by working a scoreless ninth.

The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fourth. Birmingham's Nick Madrigal started the inning with a double, and later scored from third when Gavin Sheets reached on a fielder's choice to give the Barons a 1-0 lead. Jacksonville quickly tied the score in the top of the fifth, as Anfernee Seymour started the frame with a triple, then was brought home by Corey Bird on an RBI groundout to first to put the score at 1-1.

The game remained tied until the top of the seventh. With two outs Seymour ripped a double down the left field line. Bird again brought him home with an RBI single to put Jacksonville in front 2-1. The next batter Justin Twine reached on an error by Barons third baseman Ti'Quan Forbes, and that scored Bird from second base to grow the lead to 3-1, which would be the final.

Jeff Kinley pitched a scoreless seventh and eighth innings out of Jacksonville's bullpen, and Lee forced Forbes to ground into a double play to end the game in the bottom of the ninth.
