JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Johnson City Cardinals are excited to announce a partnership with Citi to bring Tennessee Pride Tuesday's back again in 2017.
Every Tuesday, the Cardinals will wear special jerseys that resemble the throwback 1950's and 60's era jerseys of their MLB affiliate, the St. Louis Cardinals. During that time period, the Johnson City teams also wore similar jerseys. This year's Tennessee Pride jersey will again feature feature the iconic three star logo on the left sleeve, as well as the state of Tennessee design on the right sleeve. On the back, the FCA's ribbon will be featured along with Citi's logo.
In 2017, Johnson City will host four Tennessee Pride Tuesday's, and after the season the jerseys will be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds going towards the FCA Flames youth baseball organization. Each Tuesday will also feature food and drink specials with Tennessee made products, including Dr. Enuf, a staple drink in East Tennessee, BBQ sandwiches and draft specials from Tennessee breweries.
"We're excited to bring back Tennessee Pride Tuesday's again in 2017, and we're thrilled to partner with a company like Citi that does so much for the Tri-Cities community," added General Manager Tyler Parsons. "And we couldn't think of a better organization to raise funding for than the FCA and their youth baseball programs. It's always been our mission to impact youth sports in this region, and with a partner like Citi we are able to keep that moving forward."
The St. Louis Cardinals and Johnson City have a long storied history, with their first affiliation spanning from 1939-1955. Following an affiliation with the New York Yankees from 1964-1974, Johnson City once again became a Cardinals affiliate in 1975 and that has continued to the present day. Currently, Johnson City and St. Louis have the sixth longest affiliation in all of Minor League Baseball at over 40 continuous years. In 1998, St. Louis also moved their Triple-A affiliate to Memphis, giving them two current affiliations in the state of Tennessee.
The Johnson City Cardinals are the defending Appalachian League Champions as they won their fourth title in the past seven years. They will kick of their title defense on June 22nd when they host the Bristol Pirates. Season tickets, mini-plans and single game tickets are now on sale, and fans can purchase them online at JCCardinals.com or calling 423-461-4866.
