JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - For the second time in as many seasons, the Johnson City Cardinals have set a single-game attendance record. On Monday night, July 3, the Cardinals welcomed 3,549 fans to TVA Credit Union Ballpark for that evening's contest against the Pulaski Yankees. That night's mark surpassed the previous record of 3,146 set on August 9, 2016.

Despite the rain, a record-breaking crowd came out to the ballpark in Johnson City to enjoy Monday's contest. That evening marked the franchise's annual Independence Day fireworks extravaganza, as well as the organization's first Dollar Monday of the season with hot dogs, popcorn, soda, candy, Dr. Enuf and Natural Light beer being sold for just one dollar.

The 2017 campaign marks the Cardinals' second year under the management of Boyd Sports, LLC. During that time, Johnson City has set a single-game attendance record in back-to-back seasons, while the Tennessee Smokies - who are owned and operated by the same company - have set their single-game attendance record twice this season in Sevierville at Smokies Stadium.

Fans have been flocking to the ballpark this season, as through the first eight home gates this year, Johnson City has already welcomed 17,011 to TVA Credit Union Ballpark. During those eight contests, the Cardinals are averaging 2,126 fans per game. At this current pace, the Cardinals would welcome an organizational record 70,161 fans to the stadium in 2017. During the 2016 season, Johnson City welcomed a franchise-best 53,444 to the stadium.

In Monday's contest, the Cardinals fell to the Yankees by a final of 7-1. Through the first 15 games of the season, Johnson City currently has a 7-8 record and are 3.5 games behind the Greeneville Astros for first place in the Appalachian League Western Division.

The Cardinals continue their seven-game road trip on Friday, as they travel to Elizabethton to take on the Twins, the rookie league affilaite of the Minnesota Twins. RHP Johan Oviedo (1-0, 2.00 ERA) - St. Louis' No. 26 prospect according to MLBPipeline.com - is expected to take the mound for Johnson City. Elizabethton is projected to counter with LHP Charlie Barnes (0-1, 4.76 ERA).

The Cardinals Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 6:45 p.m. ET, leading up to the 7:00 p.m. ET start at Joe O'Brien Field. Friday evening's contest can be heard on NBCSportsTriCities.com, JCCardinals.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.

Following the road trip, the Cardinals will return to open up a three-game homestand against the Bristol Pirates, the rookie affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, on Wednesday, July 12. It will be the Cardinals' All-You-Can-Eat Night, as fans can purchase a special wristband and enjoy all-you-can-eat on select food items.

Season and single-game tickets are still available and can be purchased online at JCCardinals.com or by calling the Cardinals' Ticket Office at (423) 461-4866.
