ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - Down a run in the top of the eighth, Johnson City rallied to score a pair of runs on a single and an error off the bat of CF Wadye Ynfante , as the Cardinals put an end to their six-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Elizabethton

ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. - Down a run in the top of the eighth, Johnson City rallied to score a pair of runs on a single and an error off the bat of CF Wadye Ynfante , as the Cardinals put an end to their six-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the Elizabethton Twins on Sunday night at Joe O'Brien Field.
With the victory, Johnson City improved their record to 8-10 on the year. Elizabethton's loss snapped their four-game winning streak and dropped them to 12-6 on the campaign.
Trailing 1-0 with one out in the eighth, LF Chase Pinder (1-2, R, BB, SO) and RF Carlos Talavera (0-2, R, BB, 2 SO) reached on back-to-back walks. After a pop out to third, Ynfante (1-4, RBI, 2 SO) stepped in. After a passed ball allowed both runners to advance to second and third, the 19-year-old hit a roller up the third-base-line. The throw to first bounced, as both Pinder and Talavera raced home to score. Ynfante was given a single and the Cardinals had a 2-1 lead.
Elizabethton would get the leadoff man on in the eighth and ninth innings, but LHP Jacob Patterson (2.0 IP, H, 3 SO) escaped trouble both times to seal the win for the Redbirds and his third save of the young season.
The Twins grabbed their only run of the game in the bottom of the seventh. LF Brent Rooker (1-4, R, 2 SO) started the rally with a single to left and DH Shane Carrier (1-4, 2 SO) scalded a ball down the third-base-side. The grounder was booted, as Rooker raced home to score from first on the two-base error, putting the E-Twins up, 1-0.
Neither starter received a decision, but both were phenomenal. LHP Brett Seeburger (6.0 IP, 4 H, BB, 6 SO) was dominant for Johnson City, tossing a quality start, allowing four hits in six innings. His counterpart - RHP Edwar Colina (7.0 IP, 2 H, BB, 8 SO) - punched out eight over a season-high seven innings for Elizabethton.
LHP Jake Dahlberg (1.0 IP, H, R, SO) earned his first professional win for the Cardinals, allowing one unearned run in an inning of work. RHP Jared Finkel (1.0 IP, H, 2 R, 2 BB) suffered his first loss of the campaign for the E-Twins.

The Cardinals will look to earn a series split on Monday, as they are expected to send LHP Jacob Schlesener  (0-1, 1.54 ERA) to the mound. RHP Huascar Ynoa (0-1, 2.57 ERA) is slated to make the start for Elizabethton.
The Cardinals Pre-Game Show will kick off the broadcast at 6:45 p.m. ET, leading up to the 7:00 p.m. ET start at Joe O'Brien Field. Monday evening's contest can be heard on NBCSportsTriCities.com, JCCardinals.com or via the TuneIn Radio and MiLB First Pitch apps.
Following the road trip, the Cardinals will return to open up a three-game homestand against the Bristol Pirates, the rookie affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, on Wednesday, July 12. It will be the Cardinals' All-You-Can-Eat Night, as fans can purchase a special wristband and enjoy all-you-can-eat on select food items.
