Bats Break Out in Wednesday 9-3 Win at Bowling Green

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The BlueClaws bats sure didn't sleep in for their 11:05 am start in Bowling Green! Jersey Shore pounded out 10 hits and Jared Carr homered as the BlueClaws rolled to a 9-3 win over the Hot Rods at Bowling Green Ballpark on Wednesday.

The win snaps a 10-game road losing streak for the BlueClaws (10-17) and levels their series at Bowling Green (17-11) at one game apiece.

Jersey Shore did not get a baserunner over the first three innings but exploded for seven runs in the top of the fourth. Nick Matera opened the scoring with an RBI double. Baron Radcliff then reached on a fielding error to allow a second run to score. DJ Stewart then singled home two runs and Karl Ellison then doubled in two more. Johan Rojas drove in the seventh and final run of the inning with an RBI single.

Meanwhile, Griff McGarry was dealing. The right-hander from the University of Virginia threw four scoreless innings, allowing just two hits and striking out seven. Ethan Lindow (2-0) was the winning pitcher and gave up two runs in three innings. Andrew Baker threw a scoreless eighth and JP Woodward gave up one run in the ninth inning.

Jared Carr homered for the BlueClaws, the fifth of his career and first of the season in the win for Jersey Shore.

McCarthy Tatum and Ethan Wilson each had two hits for the BlueClaws. Stewart and Ellison each drove in two in the win.

Mason Montgomery (0-2) took the loss. He was charged with seven runs, but only one earned, in 3.2 innings of work.

The teams continue their series on Thursday night at 7:35 pm EST. The BlueClaws return home on Tuesday, May 24th and will play 12 home games in 13 days.
