WILMINGTON, DE - The BlueClaws started their road trip in style, using a five-run third inning en route to an 8-1 win on Tuesday night at Wilmington's Frawley Stadium.

Jersey Shore (32-58) snapped a three-game skid with the win, which came in game one of seven in Wilmington (47-42) this week.

The BlueClaws jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning on Carlos De La Cruz's eighth home run of the season. De La Cruz, who has four home runs in the last five games, hit two on Saturday and eight homers mark a new career high.

Jersey Shore then exploded for five runs in the third, capped by a three-run double from Herbert Iser.

Meanwhile, starter Matt Russell (4-6) was very sharp. The right-hander went six innings and allowed one unearned run while walking two and striking out six in earning his fourth win of the season.

After Russell came out of the game, the BlueClaws got scoreless innings from Erubiel Armenta, Andrew Schultz, and Cristian Hernandez.

Dustin Saenz (0-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs in three innings.

Four BlueClaws had two hits in the win - De La Cruz, Iser, DJ Stewart, and Freylin Minyety.

The teams continue their series at 11:05 am on Wednesday. LHP Rafael Marcano starts for the BlueClaws.
