Cyclones Rally In Ninth, Top Claws 4-3

BROOKLYN, NY - Brooklyn scored two in the eighth and two in the ninth to rally and top the BlueClaws 4-3 on Tuesday night at Maimonides Park. Matt Rudick's SAC fly brought home Matt O'Neill with the game winning run after Jaylen Palmer scored on a wild pitch.

Brooklyn (29-35) has now taken nine of 13 from Jersey Shore (24-40). Meanwhile, the BlueClaws have now dropped four in a row and eight of their last 10.

Trailing 3-0, Brooklyn added two runs in the eight off Aidan Anderson, the first on a home run by Tanner Murphy and the second on an RBI double from Nic Gaddis, setting the stage for the ninth inning rally. Anderson, who began the ninth, was charged with all four runs and fell to 1-2 on the season.

Daison Acosta (1-6) threw five scoreless innings in relief for Brooklyn to earn the win.

The BlueClaws quickly jumped out to the lead in the first inning. After the first two batters reached, Johan Rojas grounded into a double play, on which Carlos De La Cruz came into score the game's first run. Rixon Wingrove then homered, his fifth since joining the BlueClaws on May 24th to give Jersey Shore a 2-0 advantage.

Meanwhile, starter Matt Russell was sharp. The right-hander from Missouri State threw six scoreless innings, allowing four hits with two walks and three strikeouts.

Jersey Shore added to their lead in the fourth inning on an RBI groundout from Herbert Iser on which DJ Stewart came into score.

After Russell came out, Andrew Schutlz threw a scoreless seventh.

DJ Stewart and Freylin Minyety each had two hits for the BlueClaws in the win.

The teams continue their series on Wednesday night at Maimonides Park. RHP Griff McGarry starts for Jersey Shore.
