Painter, Claws Throw Third Straight Shutout in Saturday Win

WILMINGTON, DE - Andrew Painter threw six scoreless innings and the BlueClaws blanked Wilmington 6-0 on Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. The BlueClaws have thrown three straight shutouts for the first time since the last three games of the 2016 regular season.

WILMINGTON, DE - Andrew Painter threw six scoreless innings and the BlueClaws blanked Wilmington 6-0 on Saturday night at Frawley Stadium. The BlueClaws have thrown three straight shutouts for the first time since the last three games of the 2016 regular season.

In throwing the three straight shutouts, BlueClaws pitchers have not allowed a run in 27 straight innings (two nine inning games, one seven inning game, and the final two innings of the previous game). The BlueClaws (35-60) have taken four of the first six games in this series.

Painter (1-0), who earned his first BlueClaws win, struck out five over his six scoreless innings and lowered his BlueClaws ERA to 1.59 over six appearances. Cam Bedrosian followed with two scoreless innings and Andrew Baker threw the ninth.

Jared Carr opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning.

Carlos De La Cruz (10th) homered in the fourth to put the BlueClaws up 2-0. It was his fifth home run since July 23rd. Baron Radcliff added a three run home run later in the same inning. It was his 8th of the year and second in as many games.

Carr added another RBI single to complete the scoring.

Michael Cuevas (4-10) took the loss, allowing five runs, four earned, in 5.2 innings.

Carr had three hits and Radcliff had two in the BlueClaws win.
