Painter Sizzles Again; Claws Roll to 8-0 Win on Saturday

GREENSBORO, NC - Andrew Painter threw seven scoreless innings for the second consecutive Saturday, added nine strikeouts, and led the BlueClaws to an 8-0 win over Greensboro on Saturday night at First National Bank Field.

GREENSBORO, NC - Andrew Painter threw seven scoreless innings for the second consecutive Saturday, added nine strikeouts, and led the BlueClaws to an 8-0 win over Greensboro on Saturday night at First National Bank Field.

Painter (3-0), who earned his third BlueClaws win, has allowed one earned run in his last 33.2 innings. He threw seven scoreless innings with 11 strikeouts in a win over Hudson Valley last Saturday. He was the Phillies first round pick in the 2021 draft and lowered his ERA since joining the BlueClaws in June to 0.98.

The BlueClaws (40-67) have taken three of the first five games of their series with Greensboro (46-59).

Uziel Viloria opened the scoring with an RBI single in the third inning. Rixon Wingrove walked with the bases loaded in the fourth to put Jersey Shore up 2-0.

The BlueClaws then exploded for five runs in the fifth to take a 7-0 lead. Ethan Wilson doubled home two runs before Jared Carr singled in a run. Casey Martin drove in a run on a fielder's choice groundout and Rixon Wingrove drove in a run on a groundout to put the BlueClaws up 7-0.

Baron Radcliff hit his 10th home run of the year, and his fourth since July 28th, in the top of the 8th inning.

Viloria and Marcus Lee Sang each had two hits for the BlueClaws.

Dominic Pipkin starts for Jersey Shore on Sunday in the series finale. The BlueClaws open a six game series with Greensboro in Lakewood on Tuesday night.
