Claws, Rocks Split Thursday Pair at FirstEnergy Park

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – The BlueClaws and Wilmington split a pair on Thursday night, with Jersey Shore taking the completion of a suspended game 1-0 and the Blue Rocks winning the nightcap 6-3.

JERSEY SHORE, NJ – The BlueClaws and Wilmington split a pair on Thursday night, with Jersey Shore taking the completion of a suspended game 1-0 and the Blue Rocks winning the nightcap 6-3.

The BlueClaws (14-17) saw their four game win streak snapped and fell to 2-5 against Wilmington (16-15) on the year.

In game one, Adam Leverett (1-0) came on and threw 4.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts to earn the win as the BlueClaws held off Wilmington 1-0. The game started on Wednesday but was suspended by rain and resumed on Thursday night.

Leverett came on in the third at the point of resumption and came within one out of finishing off the win, but Aneurys Zabala game on and got a strikeout to end the game and earn his second save of the season.

Jhailyn Ortiz drove in the game’s lone run when the game began on Wednesday night with a first inning RBI single.

Wilmington broke open a 2-2 game with three runs in the fifth inning en route to a 6-3 win. Gage Canning’s RBI single put the Blue Rocks up 3-2 and Jacob Rhinesmith added a two-run home run off Aidan Anderson.

The BlueClaws had come back to tie the game in the fourth inning on a SAC fly from Cole Stobbe and an RBI double from Hunter Hearn before the Blue Rocks re-claimed the lead.

Israel Pineda went 3-3 with an RBI single for Wilmington.

Jersey Shore starter Dominic Pipkin struck out six over 3.2 innings, allowing one run.
