Blue Rocks Rally For Five in Ninth, Top Claws 7-6

WILMINGTON, DE - Omar Merigildo capped a five-run Wilmington ninth inning with an RBI single to give the Blue Rocks a come-from-behind 7-6 win over the BlueClaws on Sunday at Frawley Stadium.

WILMINGTON, DE - Omar Merigildo capped a five-run Wilmington ninth inning with an RBI single to give the Blue Rocks a come-from-behind 7-6 win over the BlueClaws on Sunday at Frawley Stadium.

The BlueClaws led 6-2 going into the ninth inning when the Blue Rocks stormed back. Gage Canning started the inning with a home run off Aneurys Zabala. The next three batters reached before a SAC fly from Kyle Marinconz cut the lead to 6-4. After a strikeout, Mike Adams (0-2) came on and gave up a two-run double to Yasel Antuna to tie the game. After a wild pitch moved Antuna to third, Merigildo's base hit brought home the winner.

Wilmington (6-6) had three walk-off wins over the BlueClaws (4-8) in taking five of six in the series.

Alex Troop (3-0) earned the win with two scoreless innings in relief.

Logan O'Hoppe and Cole Stobbe each homered for the BlueClaws.

After Wilmington took a 1-0 lead off Kevin Gowdy in the second inning, Rudy Rott's RBI groundout tied the game. O'Hoppe followed with his second home run of the season, a two-run blast, to put the BlueClaws up 3-1.

Cole Stobbe added a solo home run, his first of the season, in the fifth inning. Later in the frame, Herbert Iser brought home two with a single to put the BlueClaws up 6-1.

Gowdy, meanwhile, was sharp. The right-hander gave up just three hits and one run over four innings. Noah Skirrow came on in the fifth and allowed one run over 2.2 innings while adding three strikeouts.

Hunter Markwardt went 1-4 with a stolen base and is now 7-17 in four games with Jersey Shore. O'Hoppe and Chris Cornelius had two hits apiece for the BlueClaws in the win.
