LANCASTER, Calif. - Garrett Hamspon delivered four hits, including an inside-the-park home run and a triple, to lead the JetHawks over the Visalia Rawhide, 7-2, on Tuesday night at The Hangar.
The inside-the-park home run was the first for the JetHawks since Ramón Laureano's on June 12, 2016. It also came against Visalia.
The Rawhide opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first on Grant Heyman's RBI single. The JetHawks tied it with a single tally in the bottom of the frame. Hampson singled, stole second, and later came home on an error.
Lancaster took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the second. Mylz Jones and Chris Rabago each tripled and scored. Dillon Thomas picked up an RBI in his first at-bat as a JetHawk and Scott Burcham delivered a sacrifice-fly. Hampson's home run capped the scoring in the inning.
Rabago broke open the game for the JetHawks with a two-out, two-run double in the third inning. In the eighth, Hamspon led off with a triple, the third of the game for Lancaster. Yonathan Daza followed with a sacrifice-fly.
Peter Lambert started for the JetHawks and struck out four in four innings of work. He allowed two runs on six hits. The JetHawks bullpen (Ty Culbreth, Brad Schreiber, and Jonny Drozd) combined to throw five scoreless innings to close out the game. Schreiber (1-1) earned his first win for the JetHawks. He struck out two in two innings.
Bo Takahashi (6-8) suffered the loss for Visalia. The right-hander allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits in 4.1 innings.
The three-game series continues on Wednesday night at The Hangar. Right-hander Trey Killian (9-7) will start for Lancaster against left-hander Cody Reed (4-4). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
