Kaboom's birthday celebration set for March 16

March 15, 2013

LANCASTER - The Lancaster JetHawks and Farmers Insurance Agent Dave Owens are teaming up for their fourth year in a row to celebrate JetHawks Mascot Kaboom's birthday.  "As we've done in past years, we are getting together with the JetHawks to kick off the new season of baseball with a bang," said Dave Owens, owner of a Farmers Insurance Agency in Lancaster.  "We have worked hard to make the event bigger and better every year, and this year is no different," he added.

The event will be held on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Hangar, which is located on Valley Central Way near the 14 Freeway and Avenue I.  The day will start with opening ceremonies at 11:00 a.m. and will continue until 2:00 p.m.  "We are looking forward to seeing lots of baseball fans on the 16 th," said JetHawks General Manager Derek Sharp.  "We especially enjoy seeing the kids out."

The day will feature batting practice on the field, tours of the Stadium, robotics displays courtesy of different area schools' robotics programs, free hot dogs, and, of course, birthday cake.  The Antelope Valley Thespians will also be there offering face-painting and the California Highway Patrol will be there to advise on youthful driver safety.

"We think that this will be our biggest year ever," said Dave Owens.  "We have folks asking us every year about when Kaboom's birthday party will be.  We don't plan on letting them down!
