Shutout win gives JetHawks series edge
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Kent Emanuel pitched into the eighth inning and led the way in a 3-0 rubber game win over the Inland Empire 66ers on Sunday evening at San Manuel Stadium.
Emanuel (9-4) picked up his ninth win to match Josh Hader for the team-lead. The left-hander tossed 7 1/3 scoreless innings, yielding six hits, one walk and striking out five.
Andrew Walter entered in the eighth inning with a three run lead and two runners on base. After pitching out of that jam he threw a scoreless ninth to pick up his second save.
Jobduan Morales whacked his fourth home run of the season in the second inning to give the JetHawks (76-57) a 1-0 lead against starter Dan Tobik (4-8).
Lancaster added two more in the fourth inning. Austin Elkins led off with a single and Jon Kemmer followed with a double. Elkins scored on a Tyler White groundout and Morales followed with a run-scoring double.
The win put the JetHawks one game ahead of the 66ers (56-77) in the South Division second half standings at 32-31. Lake Elsinore's win at Bakersfield kept them tied for first with Lancaster.
After an off day Monday, the JetHawks travel to Adelanto to begin a three-game series with the High Desert Mavericks. First pitch on Tuesday is 7:05 p.m. from Heritage Field.
