Trio of JetHawks combine to no-hit Blaze

Hader, Osborne and Minor lead way to third no-hitter in franchise history

LANCASTER, Calif. - Josh Hader, J.D. Osborne and Daniel Minor combined to throw the third no-hitter in franchise history as the JetHawks beat the Bakersfield Blaze, 1-0, on Tuesday night at The Hangar.

The latest feat came just one year and one day after the club tossed its last no-hitter on May 12, 2013 against the Stockton Ports at The Hangar.

Hader (3-0) tossed six innings, becoming the first JetHawks pitcher to do so this season, while striking out six and walking four batters.

Osborne entered in the seventh inning and proceeded to throw two scoreless frames. He walked a batter with one out in the seventh but induced an inning-ending double play.

Daniel Minor struck two, including Kyle Waldrop for the final out, in the ninth inning to earn his first save of the season and complete the no-hitter.

It took a no-hitter to hand the Cal League's best statistical pitcher his first loss of the season. Bakersfield's Ben Lively (6-1), who entered the game leading the league in wins, ERA, strikeouts and WHIP, allowed one run over six innings.

Lancaster's lone run came in the second inning. Danry Vasquez doubled with two outs and Dan Gulbransen and Jake Rodriguez followed with walks to load the bases. Jordan Scott then blooped a single into left field to score Vasquez. Gulbransen was on his way home to score but Rodriguez ventured too far off of second base and was thrown out before Gulbransen could reach home plate.

Hader worked out of a jam in the top of the second inning. The left-hander walked the bases loaded but was able to retire Zach Vinsej on a dribbler in front of the plate to end the threat.

The franchise's first no-hitter came in August, 2009 in Lake Elsinore when four Lancaster pitchers tossed a 10-inning no-hitter.

Kyle Hallock and Luis Cruz combined to throw the Mother's Day no-hitter in 2012.

With a win and a High Desert loss, the JetHawks (23-16) moved into sole possession of first place in the South Division. They take on the Blaze (26-13) in the second game of the three-game series on Wednesday at The Hangar. Brian Holmes will get the start against Wandy Peralta. First pitch is 11 a.m. for Education Day.
