Cardinals Name Schumacker Director of Media Relations for 2015
Johnson City Cardinals Announce Schumacker as Director of Media Relations
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - The Johnson City Cardinals have announced that Matt Schumacker will be the new Director of Media Relations for the 2015 season. Schumacker will replace Houston Stutz, who accepted a similar position with the Palm Beach Cardinals.
"We couldn't be more excited to add Matt to our organization for the 2015 season," said Johnson City GM Tyler Parsons. "We had a lot of qualified applicants, but Matt's wide range of skills and enthusiasm separated him from the rest. He will be a tremendous asset for us and we look forward to getting him down to Tennessee."
A native of St. Louis and a recent graduate of Butler University in Indiana, Schumacker was most recently with Washington University in St. Louis where he provided color commentary for the Bears athletic teams. Prior working for Washington University, Schumacker worked for Butler University's athletic department as a broadcaster and post-game show host. Schumacker was also able to work for Fox Sports Midwest as well as Indiana Pacers Sports and Entertainment where he was a Producer's Assistant and a Player Relations Intern respectively.
While at Butler University, Schumacker was a part of the Bulldogs track and field team where he competed in the 400 meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay team.
He graduated from Butler University with a B.A. in Electronic Journalism and minored in Strategic Communications.
"As a St. Louis native and Cardinal fan all my life, I could not be more excited to get my first job in baseball within the Cardinals organization," added Schumacker. "I feel blessed for the opportunity, and I'm looking forward to a fun season in Johnson City. Go Birds!"
