Pirates Sweep Cardinals In Doubleheader

JOHNSON CITY, TN - After a couple of rain outs, the Cardinals were set to play a doubleheader against the Bristol Pirates. The Cardinals were swept in the doubleheader, 11-3 and 2-1.
In game one, Bristol started the scoring in the top of the second with three runs. Bristol then scored two in the top of the third and took a 5-0 lead. Johnson City answered in the bottom of the third with two runs. DonivanWilliams hit a two-run homerun (5) with MichaelPerri on base to cut the lead 5-2. 
KyleLeahy started the game for the Cardinals. He went five innings, surrendered nine hits, seven earned runs and had seven strikeouts. Leahy would take his second loss of the season.
The Pirates then scored two in the fifth and four in the sixth to take an 11-2 lead. Johnson City managed to score one. JonatanMachado singled with one out, and advanced to second on a throwing error. BrandonRiley singled to move Machado to third. LeandroCedeno hit a sac fly to score Machado and the game would end 11-3, Pirates take game one.
The Cardinals used two relievers after KyleLeahy. JuanAlvarez was first out of the bullpen. He pitched 0.2 innings, gave up four hits, four earned runs, and two walks. DavidOca was the last reliever used. He pitched 1.1 innings, giving up one hit, and notched two strikeouts.
Johnson City would draw first blood in game two. BenitoSantiago hit an RBI single that scored BrianSanchez to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead after two innings. Unfortunately, Bristol answered with two in the top of the third and that is where the score stayed. Final score 2-1 and Bristol swept the Cardinals in the doubleheader.
ColinSchmid started the game for the Cardinals. Colin took his first loss of the season (2-1), going five innings, giving up five hits, two earned runs, and notching three strikeouts. 
ParkerKelly was the only reliever used in game two. Kelly went two innings, only surrendering two hits and notching two strikeouts.
Game three between the Cardinals and Pirates is set for 7:00 p.m. tomorrow and the finale on Tuesday is set for 11:30 a.m. for Education Day.
