JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp unveiled their new Shrimp mascot, Scampi, presented by the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships, before their home opener Wednesday, April 12, at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The new mascot joins returning mascot Southpaw for the Jumbo Shrimp.
Melissa Hahnemann, of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, was the mascot naming contest winner. Chosen randomly from among the fans who submitted the name "Scampi" to the contest, she received season tickets and participated in the unveiling ceremony for Scampi Wednesday.
"Scampi seemed like the perfect name for the new Shrimp mascot," said Melissa Hahnemann. "I am looking forwarding to a fun first season for the Jumbo Shrimp!"

More than 2,000 name submissions for the new mascot were received at the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships' 10 locations, www.tombush.com, and emails to email@example.com. After a week of fan voting among five finalists, more than half of all votes were cast for Scampi.
