Realmuto's Late Homer Gives Suns 4-3 Win

Suns win final two against Biscuits, secure winning homestand
April 28, 2014

JACKSONVILLE, FL - In a back-and-forth affair, J.T. Realmuto put the Jacksonville Suns (12-13) up for good with a solo home run in the eighth inning, giving Jacksonville a 4-3 win over the Montgomery Biscuits (16-9) in Monday's series finale from Bragan Field.

Hear manager Andy Barkett's postgame comments here:

Jose Urena left in line for the win but was given a no decision after allowing two runs (both earned) on seven hits in 5.0 innings of work, while not walking a batter and striking out four Biscuits.

After coming off Tommy John surgery, Matt Montgomery (W, 1-0; BS, 1) got the win in his first live action since April 7, 2012. After allowing the Biscuits to tie the game in the sixth inning, Montgomery scoreless seventh and eighth innings before Grant Dayton (SV, 3) nailed down his third save of the year.

After the Biscuits struck first on a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning, the Suns leveled up the ballgame at 1-1 following a one-out solo home run off the bat of Rich Poythress (HR, 3) in the bottom of the second.

The Biscuits wound up re-taking the lead thanks to Ryan Brett's RBI double in the top of the fifth, but their lead would be short-lived.

Isaac Galloway ripped a two-run single to give the Suns their first lead of the day in the bottom of the fifth inning.

However, Ryan Brett would strike again for the Biscuits in the top of the seventh, as his RBI triple tied the ballgame up at 3-3.

Jacksonville had the last laugh Monday afternoon, as J.T. Realmuto (HR, 3) launched a solo home run well beyond the left field wall, giving the Suns a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Bryce Stowell (L, 0-1) took the loss for the Biscuits after surrendering the solo blast to Realmuto, allowing one run on two hits altogether in his two innings of work.

After going hitless in three at-bats, Danny Black had his 10-game hitting streak snapped on Monday.

Ryan Brett finished a perfect 5-for-5 at the plate in Monday's contest and went 14-for-26 overall in his series against the Suns.

Jacksonville is off on Tuesday, but will kick off a 10-game road trip starting with a five-game series with the Mississippi Braves beginning on Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. ET.
