JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp left fielder Kyle Barrett had two hits and scored three runs on his 24th birthday, and left-hander Matt Tomshaw went six innings for his team-high 10th win in a 7-2 victory over the Birmingham Barons in front of 6,634 before NAPA AutoCare Family Fireworks on Friday night at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.
Tomshaw (10-6) retired the first two batters before three consecutive singles by designated hitter Nick Basto, right fielder Mason Robbins and center fielder Hunter Jones for a 1-0 Birmingham lead. In the second inning, first baseman Keon Barnum added a solo home run to left field to make it 2-0. Tomshaw kept the Barons (17-24 overall, 43-67) from scoring after that point, scattering eight hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in six innings.

In the fifth inning, second baseman Alex Yarbrough singled, Barrett had a bunt single, and Lee hit a game-tying double to right field. Dean then hit a fly ball to right fielder Mason Robbins, whose error allowed Dean to reach on his go-ahead sacrifice fly that scored Barrett to give Jacksonville a 3-2 lead.
Jumbo Shrimp left-hander Jeff Kinley went 1 2/3 scoreless innings, and right-hander Tyler Kinley struck out catcher Alfredo Gonzalez with two runners in scoring position to end the top of the eighth inning. In the bottom of the inning, catcher Cam Maron and first baseman Dustin Geiger hit consecutive home runs, and Barrett and Lee both walked and later scored when third baseman David Vidal's infield single was thrown past first base by Barons third baseman Trey Michalczewski.
