JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp second baseman David Vidal had four hits, but Biloxi Shuckers catcher Jacob Nottingham hit a ninth-inning, two-out RBI single to lift the visitors to a 4-3 win and five-game series sweep preceding NAPA AutoCare Family Fireworks before 6,904 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville


JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp second baseman David Vidal had four hits, but Biloxi Shuckers catcher Jacob Nottingham hit a ninth-inning, two-out RBI single to lift the visitors to a 4-3 win and five-game series sweep preceding NAPA AutoCare Family Fireworks before 6,904 at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville Friday night.

The Shuckers (19-16) took a lead against Jumbo Shrimp right-hander Omar Bencomo with one out in the second inning. Right fielder Clint Coulter singled, second baseman Javier Betancourt hit an RBI double, and pitcher Aaron Wilkerson hit an RBI single for a 2-0 Biloxi lead. In the third inning, third baseman Angel Ortega and first baseman Dustin DeMuth hit consecutive doubles to extend the lead to 3-0. Bencomo completed six innings with nine hits, no walks and five strikeouts.

Vidal started rallies twice against Shuckers right-hander Aaron Wilkerson to help Jacksonville (13-22) tie the game. Vidal hit a fourth-inning leadoff double and scored on right fielder John Norwood's RBI single. In the sixth inning, Vidal hit a leadoff single, Norwood singled, and left fielder Cal Towey walked to load the bases. Right-hander Forrest Snow entered and allowed first baseman Taylor Ard's RBI single to center field. Left fielder Jeremias Pineda later drew a one-out, bases-loaded RBI walk to tie the game, 3-3, before third baseman Rehiner Cordova grounded into an inning-ending double play.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, shortstop Alex Yarbrough drew a one-out walk, and Vidal and Norwood singled. Yarbrough tried to score from second base on Norwood's hit, but center fielder Johnny Davis threw to Nottingham to retire Yarbrough. Jumbo Shrimp manager Randy Ready argued with home plate umpire Brandon Butler after the call and was ejected. Left-hander Nick Ramirez finished the inning with a strikeout.

In the ninth inning, Jumbo Shrimp left-hander Greg Nappo allowed a leadoff single by shortstop Mauricio Dubón, Vidal's one-out error moved Dubon to third base, and Nottingham's two-out single scored him. Shuckers right-hander Bubba Derby (2-0) worked two perfect innings to finish the game.

The Jumbo Shrimp return to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville on Thursday against the Mississippi Braves for Mavericks Live and Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, when fans can purchase $1 12-oz. and $2 24-oz. beers adjacent to the new Budweiser Tiki Terrace, on the left-field berm, at two locations on the right-field bleachers, and at the Oasis concession stand behind Section 115.
