Suns announce 2014 schedule & broadcast info

Season begins against Huntsville on April 3 at Bragan Field

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins, kick off another year at Bragan Field April 3 as they release their schedule and broadcast information for the 2014 season.

The Suns opens the 70-game home schedule on Thursday April 3 by welcoming the Huntsville Stars to Bragan Field. Jacksonville will host 15 games a month at home in four of the five months this season.

Fans will enjoy postgame fireworks 14 times this season, including 10 Friday nights and four special holiday shows. Once again the in-state rivalry between the Suns and Pensacola Blue Wahoos, the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds, will heat up as the clubs will "Battle for the Golden Skillet." The Suns have won the Golden Skillet trophy in each of the first two years of the rivalry as they prepare to host the Blue Wahoos for 15 games in 2014.

The first half ends on June 15 before the Suns will break for three days, with the 2014 Southern League All-Star Game being played at Chattanooga's AT&T Field on Tuesday June 17. The Suns will host the final series of the season, facing Mobile for five games starting August 28.

Game times will be the same in 2014, with most nightly Suns games beginning at 7:05 p.m. Sundays will either start at 3:05 or 6:05 p.m., with exceptions for holiday fireworks on May 25 and August 31 when the games will begin at 7:05 p.m. The club will release its full promotional schedule in March.

The Suns will once again provide top-notch broadcast coverage of Jacksonville baseball in 2014 after renewing their partnerships with 94.1 WSOS-FM and CW 17.

For the second straight season, all 140 games can be heard on the Suns Baseball Network's flagship radio station, 94.1 WSOS-FM. Suns Director of Broadcasting Roger Hoover, entering his third year in Jacksonville, will lead his team's extensive coverage of each game along with comprehensive pre and postgame shows. You can also listen to all 140 games via the internet at www.jaxsuns.com. All Suns home games and selected road contests can also be seen live MILB.TV for a fee through the Suns website.

Fans can see 11 Suns games broadcasted live in High Definition on Jacksonville's CW-17 with Hoover teaming up with Suns President/Owner Peter Bragan, Jr. for color commentary on each telecast. The television game dates are: April 26-27, May 24-25, June 21-22, July 4, July 19-20 and Aug. 30-31.
