With solid pitching and one clutch offensive play, the Hammerheads narrowly beat the Daytona Tortugas 1-0 on Wednesday night in a brisk 1:54 matchup.
In his first start of the year for Jupiter Josh Roeder didn't allow any runs over his six innings pitched. The right-hander made quick work of retiring Daytona's offense, allowing just three hits, striking out four and walking no one.
Colton Hock and Vincenzo Aiello continued the shutout through the end of the game. Hock pitched two innings of relief and earned the win on the night. Aiello closed the game with three fast outs, efficiently wrapping up the speedy matchup and earning his first save of the season.
The Hammerheads made the only consequential offensive move of the night in the bottom of the seventh. After Micah Brown reached base on a walk, Michael Donadio hit a sharp double to right to bat in Brown and put Jupiter up 1-0. Donadio's double was the only extra base hit of the night, the only RBI of the night and, ultimately, the only offense Jupiter needed to win the game.
Next, Jupiter hits the road for a series against the Bradenton Marauders, Thursday through Saturday.
