The Hammerheads continued difficulties at the plate and growing difficulties on the mound led to a tough 1-8 loss to the Bradenton Marauders at home.
Normally high-performing lefty Trevor Rogers had a less impressive outing on Tuesday evening. Over 5.1 innings pitched he allowed eight hits and five runs, three of which were earned, and struck out three.
Miami Marlin Austin Brice pitched a second rehab outing with Jupiter, this time 1.2 innings with one hit, one run and one strikeout. Steven Farnworth allowed the final two runs in the ninth.
Vincenzo Aiello continues to be an impressive dark horse in the Jupiter bullpen. In the right-handers ten games with Jupiter he's only allowed earned runs in two. His ERA has steadily decreased since his worst game on April 6th and now stands at a commendable 3.46. Tonight, Aiello's hitless inning of relief made him the only Hammerhead pitcher who did not allow a run.
Offensively, Michael Donadio hit a double that would convert into the only run of the night for the Hammerheads. Riley Mahan also hit a double, ending a five game hitting drought for the second baseman.
Tomorrow, the Hammerheads will face the Marauders again at 6:30 pm at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Buy tickets at jupiterhammerheads.com/tickets.
