Jupiter pulled off an improbable comeback in Friday night's 6-5 win as they scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The high scoring ninth started off with three consecutive Hammerheads reaching base on balls. With the bases loaded and B.J. López at the plate Cameron Baranek reached home on a wild pitch, making the score 2-5, Lopez was walked later in the at bat. With the bases loaded once again Micah Brown singled to left field and cut the lead to 3-5.
Anfernee Seymour sent home the fourth run of the night on a sacrifice fly.
With the bases loaded once again and two outs, Lazaro Alonso stepped up to the plate. The righty sent a single to right-center field scoring two runs to complete the comeback as Jupiter won 6-5.
Dustin Beggs started on the mound for the Hammerheads in the victory, the starter pitched for five 2/3 innings allowing five runs, four earned.
After Beggs was replaced by Alejandro Mateo and later Jameson McGrane the Jupiter pitching staff held Dunedin scoreless and allowed just one hit through three 1/3 innings.
This late fight in the Hammerheads is becoming common as they showed their resilience in Monday night's 12-11 win over the Miracle as well.
Game three of the series will take place at 5:30 P.M. at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium as Jupiter looks to go up three games to none. Tickets and more information can be found at Rogerdeanchevroletstadium.com/tickets-events.
