The initial run was off the bat of 2022 Marlins first-round pick Jacob Berry, who scored Yiddi Cappe from third on a sacrifice fly. The Hammerheads logged only five hits on the evening but threatened in the ninth with a pair of leadoff baserunners in the form of a Brady Allen single and Jake Thomson walk. In spite of having the tying run in scoring position with no outs, the sixth, seventh, and eighth spots in the order were retired in succession to conclude the contest.
Cappe recorded three of the team's five total hits, while Allen and Torin Montgomery had the other base knocks. Joe Mack and Jake Thompson each drew walks in the loss.
Gabe Bierman started for Jupiter on the mound and was in the midst of a scoreless showing before allowing the four-run fifth. The Indiana University product struck out two batters in his 88-pitch outing. Edison Suriel, Yoilan Quinonez, and Patrick Murphy each combined for four innings and as many strikeouts out of the bullpen, with the trio giving up no runs.
The Hammerheads move to 54-50 overall in 2022, and 20-20 in the second half of the Florida State League season. Jupiter currently stands two and a half games behind Palm Beach and St. Lucie in the second-half FSL East division standings, and the playoff spot that comes with the second-half championship.
