On Space Night, the Jupiter “Gas Giants” fall to the St. Lucie Mets 9-2 on Saturday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. Jupiter took after their namesake, Jupiter the planet, and hosted a night full of space exploration capped off with specialty jerseys.

St. Lucie came out of the gates firing and scored three runs in the first frame, highlighted by a two-run homer from William Lugo. Jupiter would respond with a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame. Brady Allen would continue his hot streak with an RBI single. The South Carolina Gamecock now holds a 11-game hitting streak after finishing the game 2-4.

The Mets would make it a 6-1 game before Jupiter scored again. In the second, Raul Beracierta connected for a solo homer. In the fourth, Junior Tillien and Lugo each drove in runs for St. Lucie.

The “Gas Giants” would score again in the bottom of the fifth as Jose Salas picked up his 13th RBI on the season. The Marlins No. 7 overall prospect finished 2-4 with the RBI and a run scored.

The Mets would tack on three additional runs in the sixth inning to make it a 9-2 game.

One of the more exciting moments on Space Night came in the third inning. Kahlil Watson successfully stole home with a swim move to avoid the tag from Mets’ catcher Jose Rivera. However, with the ABS Challenge system in place, St. Lucie challenged the pitch, and it was ultimately overturned for strike three. Due to the strikeout, the Watson run didn’t count. The Marlins' top overall prospect did tally two hits on the evening.

On the mound, Holt Jones got the start for Jupiter. The righty pitched 3.1 innings before being pulled. The Kentucky product did tally four strikeouts on the night. In relief was Edison Suriel, who pitched 2.2 innings for Jupiter. The righty allowed three runs on the evening. Finally, the “Gas Giants” turned to Yeuris Jimenez to close the game. The 21-year-old pitched three hitless innings and struck out a pair of batters. The Dominican native now holds a 1.03 ERA across 26.1 innings this season.

Jupiter and St. Lucie will close out the series on Sunday afternoon.
