Despite outhitting the Palm Beach Cardinals eight to six Sunday afternoon, a scoreless second half of the game for the Jupiter Hammerheads led to a 4-3 loss.
All three of Jupiter's runs came in bottom of the fourth via a series of singles. Those hits by Riley Mahan, Isael Soto, James Nelson and Cameron Baranek pushed in three runs to give Jupiter a 3-2 lead.
Despite giving up two runs during his start, Jordan Holloway pitched his way out of some trouble in the top of the 2nd, striking out two with bases loaded to keep the game within reach. Daniel Castano pitched an impressive 3 2/3 innings of relief, striking out four and allowing just one run in the seventh.
Jupiter showed promise in the ninth with Micah Brown in scoring position and only one out, but the Hammerheads failed to bring him in and keep the game alive.
Mahan continued his hot streak, recording a triple and single for the day. Nelson also found the ball twice, singling in the first and fourth innings.
This week the Hammerheads are on the road for their first series away from Jupiter. They will face the Florida Fire Frogs in Kissimmee on April 8th through the 11th.
