Cameron Barstad is the hero for the Jupiter Hammerheads after hitting a walk-off homer to win the game on Wednesday night. The Hammerheads outlasted the Dunedin Blue Jays 5-4 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium.

Before Barstad’s late-game heroics, starter Luis Palacios was the star of the show. The southpaw pitched seven strong innings for the Hammerheads. In his ninth start this season, Palacios allowed just one earned run (three total) and five hits while striking out six batters.

Yeuris Jimenez and Caleb Wurster pitched the final two innings for Jupiter, each working one frame. Jimenez allowed one hit before striking out the side. The righty lowered his ERA to 0.99 on the season. Wurster earned his second win of the season after pitching the ninth inning.

Offensively, the Hammerheads got on the board early after tallying three singles in the opening frame. Jose Salas drove in Osiris Johnson with a sacrifice fly to give Jupiter the early 1-0 lead.

The Dunedin Blue Jays would respond with two runs in the second inning. However, Jupiter kept their foot on the gas and scored a trio of runs in the third inning. Salas picked up his second RBI of the night after a sharp single to score Johnson. Then an Ian Lewis RBI single would give the Hammerheads the lead once again. Finally, Brady Allen would bring Salas home with a sacrifice fly to make it a 4-2 game.

The Blue Jays would cut the deficit to one in the seventh inning and then tie the contest in the top of the ninth. Jommer Hernandez would collect the equalizer with a single to score pinch-runner Adrian Pinto.

Then to lead off the bottom of the ninth inning in a 4-4 game, Cameron Barstad connected for his first home run of the season to give Jupiter the walk-off win. The catcher's solo shot went 420 feet with an exit velocity of 104.5 MPH.

The Hammerheads have now won the first two games of the series and will go for their third on Thursday night at RDCS. Tickets are still available here as RDCS hosts Thirsty Thursday with $1, $2, and $3 beers throughout the game.
