Halfway through their mid-June series against the St. Lucie Mets, the Jupiter Hammerheads are up two games to one. Jupiter won the first two games but failed to get three-in-a-row on Thursday night.

On Tuesday night, the Jupiter Hammerheads won in walk-off fashion. A 2-run Angeudis Santos double clinched the game for Jupiter. Even with a sloppy defensive game, Jupiter still found a way to win. Eury Perez made his seventh start and continued to show off. The 18-year-old pitched four shutout innings and struck out four batters. The righty’s ERA now sits at 0.72 on the season.

The Hammerheads followed up their big Tuesday victory with a rain-soaked win on Wednesday. With the threat of rain all-game, it finally started pouring the ninth inning. With two outs in the top of the ninth, the game was officially called with the Hammerheads leading 8-4. Santos tallied two more RBIs in Wednesday’s game as well. Victor Mesa Jr. also drove in two runs. Starter Chris Mokma recorded six strikeouts in his five innings of work.

After taking the first two games of the series, the Hammerheads dropped game three against the Mets by a score of 7-3. Starter Dax Fulton struck out five of the first seven batters for St. Lucie in his sixth start of the season. Federico Polanco hit a two-RBI triple in the third inning and is now tied for first in the league with three triples. The Dominican native drove in another run with a sacrifice ground out in the eighth.
