Jupiter Loggerheads fall to Daytona Tortugas in battle of the turtles

In the first annual "Turtle Wars", the Jupiter Hammerheads, branded as the Loggerheads for the day in support of Loggerhead Marinelife center, couldn't recover form a tough first inning against the Tortugas and fell 4-1.
Jordan Holloway did not deliver his usual stellar start. In his worst start for May, the 22-year-old right-hander allowed four earned runs over four innings, walking two and striking out three.
Although his final line (4 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 K) was underwhelming, Holloway found a better rhythm after the first inning, where three of Daytona's four runs and half of their six hits happened.
Josh Roeder haulted the Tortugas offense after their final run in the fourth, coming in for his own four innings of relief in the fifth. In his longest relief appearance of the season, he pitched effectively, allowing only two hits and shutting out the Tortugas with just 44 pitches (31 strikes, 4 K).
Chad Smith closed the game without allowing any hits and striking out two.
The Hammerheads lone run was off an RBI triple from Marlins #2 prospect Víctor Víctor Mesa.
Mesa scored Demetrius Sims, who has been extremely effective since coming up from Clinton. The shortstop went 2-2 tonight with a double batted in by Mesa and a single. In his three games with Jupiter, Sims has gone 5-8 with one double and one homerun, earning him a 0.625 average and 1.125 OPS thus far.
