Jupiter was held scoreless Monday night in a 7-0 loss to Florida while recording only five hits.
Jupiter did not pose any real scoring threat Monday as the Hammerheads did not have a runner reach third base all night. No batter recorded a multi-base hit either.
On an MLB rehab assignment, Garrett Cooper was the only player on Jupiter to record a multi-hit game as he hit two singles.
The game stayed close early as Jupiter's starting pitcher Jorge Guzman gave up only two runs through his first five innings pitched. Guzman allowed two more runs in the sixth inning, increasing the Florida lead to 4-0 before being relieved by Alejandro Mateo.
Mateo could not slow down the offense of the Fire Frogs as Florida scored three more runs in the seventh inning making the score 7-0. Reilly Hovis finished off the seventh inning for Jupiter stranding two Fire Frog runners on base.
Hovis and Lukas Schiraldi were both on the mound to close out the game for Jupiter each allowing no runs.
Jupiter only had one error Monday night but the lack of offence combined with a poor pitching performance proved to be no match for the Fire Frogs.
The Hammerheads look to even up the series Tuesday at 6:30 PM. Tickets and more information Tuesday nights can be found at Rogerdeanchevroletstadium.com/tickets-events
