The Jupiter Hammerheads get shutout 3-0 as they begin a six-game homestand against the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels.

Jupiter’s offense couldn’t plate any runs even after outhitting the visiting Mighty Mussels seven to six. Ft. Myers got out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Jorel Ortega drove in the two runs on a single to left field. The Mighty Mussels would add one more run in the seventh on a Carlos Aguiar double.

For the Hammerheads, Javier Sanoja and Jacob Berry collected a combined four of the seven hits on Tuesday night. Each batter finished 2-4 with two singles. Berry was the Marlins’ first-round draft pick this season, while Sanoja is coming off a hot July where he slashed .316/.357/.474 in 11 games.

Juan Diaz was the first pitcher on the mound for the Hammerheads. The lefty pitched 3.1 innings and tallied four strikeouts before being replaced by Jean Reyes. Reyes matched with 3.1 innings of his own while collecting three strikeouts. Yeuris Jimenez would come in a throw 1.1 innings for Jupiter. To close the game, the club turned to Dale Stanavich. The former Rutgers reliever and 8th-round draftee this season pitched a perfect ninth inning.

Defensively, the Hammerheads turned four double plays on the evening.

The two teams will be back in action Wednesday night at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30 PM, with tickets still available here. Come out to the ballpark and play Baseball Bingo with the Silver Sluggers!
