Unlike the previous two games of the series which were each determined by a single run in the favor of Tampa due to their late scoring, Jupiter was the team to come out on top by one run Wednesday night.
The Hammerheads 2-1 win on Wednesday came in a game that lasted only one hour and fifty four minutes due mainly to the phenomenal performance of the pitching staff.
Each of the teams only recorded four hits.
Jupiter starting pitcher Ryan Lillie had quite the game as he stayed on the mound for 6 and 1/3 innings allowing only one run and two hits and retired nine Tampa batters on strikes.
Scott Squier was awarded the win after pitching 1 and 2/3 innings with one strike out and one hit in his first game back on the Hammerheads roster. It was the third and final pitcher of the night, Chad Smith who earned the save after not allowing the Tarpons to score in the top of the ninth in the one run game.
Milton Smith Jr. shined for Jupiter in his debut performance, the 20 year old rookie went two for three with a single and a triple after having a batting average of .356 in the Gulf Coast League this season.
Justin Twine had both RBI for Jupiter in the win as he sent Smith Jr. home from third on a sacrifice fly in the sixth and B.J. López home in the eighth on a ground out that proved to be the game winning run.
The Hammerheads look to continue the winning and make a splash Thursday as Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium hosts "Splash Day" at 12 PM. Tickets and more information can be found at Rogerdeanchevroletstadium.com/tickets-events.
