Behind five strong innings from starter Luis Palacios, the Jupiter Hammerheads win Thursday’s game over the Palm Beach Cardinals 5-1. It’s Jupiter’s fourth straight win and seventh in the last eight games.

Making his fourth start of the season, Palacios was locked in. The Venezuelan pitched five innings and allowed only three hits. The lefty finished with five total strikeouts and struck out four Cardinals in a row during the game. After allowing six runs in his 2021 debut, Palacios has given up just four earned runs in his last 19 innings pitched.

The Hammerheads’ bullpen carried their momentum from last night’s game as well. After Palacios, Jupiter pitchers only gave up three hits across four innings. Eddy Tavarez struck out five of the seven batters he faced. Then Troy Cruz struck out the side to retire the eighth inning. Last, it was Evan Brabrand allowing only one hit in his fourth game with the Hammerheads.

At the plate, the Hammerheads were fueled by a four-run third inning. During the inning, Victor Mesa Jr drove in two runs with a sharp single. Then, Nic Ready hit his first home run in a Hammerheads jersey. They would add another run in the sixth inning after another Mesa Jr. RBI single. The three RBIs on the night added to Mesa’s team-leading 44 RBIs on the season.

Nasim Nunez stole two more bases on Thursday night. The speedster now has 33 stolen bases on the season and leads the Low-A Southeast. Alongside the stolen bases, Nunez finished the game 2-3 and scored a run.

Jupiter now has a record of 33-35 while Palm Beach sits at 25-43. The Hammerheads will look to keep the momentum going and win their fifth straight game on Friday night. Tickets are still available here.
