GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars have announced a specialty beer-naming campaign through social media in which fans will help choose the name of a new specialty Cougars beer created by Two Brothers Brewing Company. Beginning today, the Cougars will post a "beer ballot" through the Cougars' Facebook and Twitter (@kccougars) social media channels. Fans can vote on one of three pre-selected beer finalist names - Grand Slam Ale, Home Run Ale and Raging Cougar Ale - or submit their own beer name to be considered by Cougars staff. While the official name of the beer is currently undetermined, the Cougars have partnered with Warrenville-based Two Brothers Brewing Company to produce a new lighter, hoppier ale that ultimately will become the Cougars' branded specialty beer.
Through this partnership with Two Brothers Brewing Company as well as the Cougars' Major League affiliation with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Cougars will become the first organization in the 16-team Midwest League to feature its own branded beer. The Cougars are also believed to be the first team in all of Minor League Baseball to have their own branded specialty beer available not only at their own games, but also at their major league affiliate's games. The Cougars' specialty beer will be available and on tap in the Chicagoland area for Cougars home games at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, the Two Brothers Tap House in Warrenville and Round House in Aurora as well as at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Two Brother's new Tap House and Brewery Restaurant in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Beginning today through Tuesday, February 24, randomly selected Cougars social media followers who participate will be eligible to win unique prizes such as tickets to Opening Night on April 9, a ceremonial first pitch, along with a ceremonial first "pour", and participate in a first "toast" of the season with Cougars and Two Brothers representatives that evening on the field. Social media followers can also win prizes courtesy of Two Brothers as well as the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Cougars, in conjunction with Two Brothers Brewing Company, will announce the winning beer name and logo design next Thursday, February 26.
