2018 season kicks off with Thirsty Thursday specials for Opening Night

GENEVA, Ill. - The Kane County Cougars, Class-A Minor League affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, open the 2018 season with a two-game set against the Clinton LumberKings (Seattle Mariners affiliate). Opening Week homestand highlights include Miller Lite Thirsty Thursday deals with $1 select beers, sodas and hot dogs, an Opening Night cap giveaway, pre-game Cougars Reading Club parade and the first opportunity to meet your 2018 Cougars.

Thursday 4/5 - Clinton LumberKings (Seattle Mariners) - 6:30 PM (Gates open at 5:30 PM) - WBIG 1280 AM (6:15 PM) - POSTPONED

Tonight's contest between the Clinton LumberKings has been postponed due to wintry conditions. A makeup date has been announced for Friday, April 6. The game will be made up as a doubleheader, of two seven-inning games, beginning at 4 PM. Fans who have purchased tickets for tonight's game are advised to contact the Cougars box office at 630-232-8811 regarding their exchange options.

Friday 4/6 - Clinton LumberKings (Seattle Mariners) - DOUBLEHEADER CANCELLED

Today's doubleheader between the Clinton LumberKings has been cancelled due to the blustery, cold conditions. Fans who purchased tickets for today are advised to contact the Cougars box office at 630-232-8811 regarding their exchange options. 

Homestand Notes

Opening Night - The 28th season of baseball in Kane County begins Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a 2018 Opening Night cap, courtesy of Northwestern Medicine. Cougars players will participate in a pre-game autograph session beginning at 5:45 p.m. Formal introductions of each team's roster and staff will take place prior to the National Anthem. It's also the first Thirsty Thursday of the season which means fans can purchase select beers, sodas and hot dogs for just $1. Following the game, fans of all ages can run the bases (weather permitting).

Cougars Reading Club - The Cougars reading incentive program is back for its third decade in 2018. This season, the program includes more than 400 Chicago area schools and 125,000 students who are improving their reading skills through the Cougars Reading Club. Participating students who complete reading goals set by their respective teachers are awarded a ticket to an April or May Cougars game, a food voucher, official Cougars Reading Club bag and the opportunity to participate in the pre-game on-field parade. The Cougars Reading Club is sponsored by Cantigny Park, The PRIDE Stores and Oberweis.
