Part-Time Employment

JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Kane County Cougars Promotions Department, you will responsible for serving as a mascot with the intent of presenting Cougars fans with positive experiences. The Cougars are currently seeking mascots to do events and appearances in an as needed/part-time capacity with the potential for game day performance on an as needed/backup basis. 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • NON-GAME DAY:
    • Appearances in the local community including races, festivals, contests, charitable causes, with the Cougar Crew Street Team, sponsors, etc. 
    • Appearances at Cougars outside events.
    • Conceptualize the mascots personality, antics, role in fan engagement and contribute new ideas for involvement in promotions, appearances, etc. 
    • Communication and collaboration with the Cougars promotions staff.
    • Professionalism in working with both staff members and fans.
    • Improvising and thinking on one's feet to make the best possible decisions in the moment.
  • GAME DAY
    • Pre-game meeting with staff members
    • Energetic pre-game, in-game and post-game presentation as directed by Cougars management staff, keeping in mind the family-friendly atmosphere and vision of the organization as we deliver an excellent show to fans. 
    • Participation in a post-game autograph session once per homestand
    • Professionalism in working with both staff members and fans
    • Adherence to game day agenda/run-down to meet requirements of group outings, birthdays, sponsorships, promotions, etc. 
    • Input on making game day experiences more enjoyable for fans. 
    • Improvising and thinking on one's feet to make the best possible decision in the moment. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Willingness to fulfil the role of a mascot as needed throughout the season and off-season.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, creative and interpersonal skills.
  • Energy and passion when it comes to performing.
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays and evenings.

Seasonal Employment

JOB SUMMARY:  Responsible for professionally directing fans to proper parking location after collecting parking fee. Greet every guest in a friendly manner and serve them quickly and accurately. Answer any questions regarding facility and direct them to proper entrance gates. 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED:  Operate walkie-talkies professionally.

DIRECTION EXERCISED:  Must be able to work independently as well as with a group.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:  Hours will vary, but will include evenings, weekends, holidays and long hours on game days.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Our work environment is very physical, fast-paced and at times very stressful.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds. Physically access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/STADIUM OPERATIONS: 

  • Collect parking fee quickly and accurately. 
  • Direct fans professionally and safely to the proper parking location. 
  • Communicate with other departments and employees to ensure great Guest Courtesy and the safety of all individuals.
  • Maintain order in the parking lot. 
  • Direct fans professionally and safely as they exit the ballpark/parking lot after the game.

JOB SUMMARY: Assist Head Groundskeeper in maintaining the field at the ballpark. 

DIRECTION EXERCISED:  Manage and interact with other grounds crew members as you work together to maintain the field. 

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will be outside in the elements, on the field and concourse. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Long periods of time spent on your feet. Have the ability to move up to 50 pounds. Physically access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely. 

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Mowing, fertilizing, seeding and spraying the field. 
  • Infield prep. 
  • Mound, home plate and bullpen repair. 
  • Batting Practice setup and teardown. 
  • Game prep. 
  • Tarp pulls.

Internships

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for assisting all members of Kane County Cougars front office in game-day presentation and execution including, but not limited to: working as an Usher, Parking Attendant, KidZone Supervisor, Concessions worker, Mascot, Grounds Crew and Stadium Operations Assistant. Non-game day duties will assist in marketing, accounting, souvenirs, sales and other specials projects as assigned. 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Telecommunications equipment, copy machine and computer utilization. 

DIRECTION EXERCISED: Manage other interns and game-day staff as assigned.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Hours will vary, but will include evenings, weekends, holidays and long hours on game days.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office is part of baseball operations and staff must be located to meet with visitors or take calls. Our work environment is very physical, fast-paced and at times very stressful.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Sit and use a personal computer for long periods, as well as long periods of time spent on your feet. Ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds. Physically access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/STADIUM OPERATIONS:

  • Prepare stadium for game-day as structured.
  • Work assigned function during events (usher, parking, KidZone, etc.). 
  • Communicate with other departments and employees to ensure great Guest Courtesy and the safety of all individuals.

START AND END DATE: Preference is for interns to start between mid-March, but no later than Memorial Day weekend, and stay through Labor Day. 

JOB SUMMARY: Fulfil the ticketing needs of all customers while providing them with excellent customer service. 

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Assist customers who purchase tickets over the phone and in-person
  • Game day duties include assisting in the operation of the Ticket Office during walk-up sales as well as servicing clients in-person and over the phone. 
  • Miscellaneous duties including, but not limited to, answering the main phone for customer service, assisting in the field tarp, etc. 
  • Other duties to be assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • Detail-orientated person to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Passion to work in the sports industry. 
  • Strong customer service skills. 
  • Previous customer service experience with phone customers is preferred. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including successfully communicating with the General Public and other employees. 
  • Computer skills helpful: Microsoft Word, Excel, TicketReturn Ticketing Software.

JOB SUMMARY: Assist in creating a fun, engaging game day show by leading on-field promotions, contests, and pre/post-game activities as directed by the promotional staff. Energetic individuals willing to participate in our theme nights, promotions and antics are wanted! Participate in Street Team, marketing events on non-game days by interacting with fans and working to increase interest and excitement about the Cougars. Must be willing to work these events on non-game days, evenings and weekends. 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED:  Ability to use a radio to communicate with staff. Personal email account for communication and scheduling. 

DIRECTION EXERCISED: Manage and interact with fans who come onto the field for the National Anthem, first pitches, contests, Run the Bases and other promotions. Fully and energetically participate in non-game day promotional events throughout the Chicagoland area as well as manage event on behalf of the Cougars with no direct supervision. 

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Hours will vary, but will include evenings, weekends, holidays, game days and non-game days. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:  Work will be focused on game days and at marketing events. Our work environment is very physical, fast-paced and at times very stressful. Cougar Crew works mostly outside in the stadium and in the elements. The team typically plays rain or shine, cold or warm. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Long periods of time spent on your feet. Have the ability to move up to 35 pounds. Physically able to access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely. Ability and willingness to dance, interact with fans and participate in set-up and break-down of on-field events. Ability and willingness to drive personal vehicle to promotional events on non-game days.
