Full-Time Employment

ABOUT US: The Kane County Cougars are the Class A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks and are located in the western suburbs of Chicago, playing home games at beautiful Northwestern Medicine Field. The 2020 season will mark the 30th anniversary season for the Cougars. The team not only hosts 70+ Class A baseball games but potentially upwards of 200 events over the course of the calendar year. The ballpark features approximately 7,000 hard seats, lawn seating three outfield party decks and an upper deck level that contains two rooftop party areas, 13 party suites, one Super Suite and 16 tables in the premium seating area behind home plate. The ballpark includes four main concourse concession stands, an outside grilling area, several portables, a main storage warehouse and a main kitchen in the upper level. 

SUMMARY: Reporting to our Director of Food & Beverage, you will lead the food production team in executing the culinary operations throughout the entire ballpark. Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in an ever-changing environment. This is a full-time, year-round position with benefits.  

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Culinary Manager will be responsible for all aspects of the club's day to day culinary operations, which include: 

  • Developing and standardizing recipes/final presentations of food
  • Building a strong relationship with all food vendors to aid in managing food costs
  • Directly managing the execution of all culinary operations for our suites and rooftop party areas
  • Ensuring all remaining culinary operations (outfield party decks, concessions, outdoor grill, etc.) are preparing/serving food according to standards
  • Ensuring that all safety and sanitation standards are met throughout the ballpark
  • Hiring, training and development of all culinary staff
  • Managing and scheduling employees
  • Managing/maintaining labor costs
  • Executing food production, cleaning and safety audits 

In order to be successful, a good candidate will be able to create strong partnerships with other members of management as well as all vendors and employees. This position is hands-on as the culture is a team atmosphere instead of a strictly top-down delegation model. Candidates must be able to plan the F&B operation with a multi-pronged goal of a great culinary experience for customers at the same time as generating a strong revenue stream with solid margins to support the business. Nothing is more important to us than our brand promise of a great experience for our fans. 

IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • College or Culinary/Trade School degree required
  • 2+ years supervisory experience in Food & Beverage field
  • Must present and communicate in a professional manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must speak fluent English - bilingual Spanish a definite plus
  • Must be organized with good time-management skills
  • Computer proficiency in Google Suite applications

Part-Time Employment

We are seeking an experienced Promotions Assistant to work at Northwestern Medicine Field for the 2020 Kane County Cougars season. As the Promotions Assistant, you will be working directly under the supervision of the Promotions Director. An ideal candidate for this role will have an outgoing and enthusiastic personality. This is a part-time, seasonal position starting around early March and ending in early September. 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • Assist in leading the Cougar Crew
  • Assisting with outside promotional events such as player and mascot appearances as well as other community appearances
  • Preparing the script for each game day
  • Book and communicate with all National Anthem performers
  • Contribute ideas on new promotional games or ways to execute a theme night
  • Loading player headshots and stats onto Crossfire
  • Ensuring proper preparation and execution of in-game entertainment and other stadium events, including proper upkeep of promotional items and equipment
  • Developing fun and interactive in-game and mascot entertainment
  • Assist on-field operations; all pre-game, between-inning promotions and post-game activities
  • Assist with social media when needed
  • Assist all members of the promotions team or upper management when needed

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Recent college graduate or graduating by December 2019, with a degree in Sports Management or Sports Marketing

JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Kane County Cougars Promotions Department, you will responsible for serving as a mascot with the intent of presenting Cougars fans with positive experiences. The Cougars are currently seeking mascots to do events and appearances in an as needed/part-time capacity with the potential for game day performance on an as needed/backup basis. 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • NON-GAME DAY:
    • Appearances in the local community including races, festivals, contests, charitable causes, with the Cougar Crew Street Team, sponsors, etc.

JOB SUMMARY: The on-field Emcee will work directly under the Promotions Department and will assist in all aspects of the Cougars promotions. The Kane County Cougars are looking for an enthusiastic, energetic and passionate individual to be the voice and face of the franchise as the on-field Emcee for the 2020 season. The individual will be an integral part of the in-game entertainment experience at Northwestern Medicine Field. NOTE: This is a seasonal part-time position from April 2020-September 2020

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Execute in-game promotions and events including, but not limited to pre-game and post-game promotions as well as on-field contests
  • Encourage excitement among fans including dancing, chanting and singing

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work will be focused on game days. Our work environment is very physical, fast-paced and at times very stressful. The social media intern will be expected to be outside in the stadium and in the elements. The team typically plays rain or shine, cold or warm. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Long periods of time spent on your feet. Have the ability to move up to 35 pounds. Physically access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely. Ability and willingness to use personal devices while moving throughout the confines of the ballpark and its exterior.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for photographing fan and mascot interaction, on-field entertainment acts, game action and other assorted activities on game days as assigned by the promotions and marketing department. Will work off of a nightly shot list in order to obtain photographs of specific areas of the ballpark including signage or sponsor promotions. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Photograph home games and any other team-related events
  • Curate and edit photos for use on social media as well as partner reviews and proofs of performance
  • Assist with the organization and maintenance of the photo library 
  • Attend pre-game promotions meeting prior to each scheduled game and as requested
  • Follow scripted requirements from the marketing and promotions team
  • Communicate with other departments and employees to ensure a world-class game day show, great Guest Courtesy and the safety of all individuals

QUALIFICATIONS:
