Full-Time Employment

SUMMARY: The Kane County Cougars are the Class A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks and are located in the western suburbs of Chicago, playing home games at beautiful Northwestern Medicine Field. The 2020 season will mark the 30th anniversary season for the Cougars. The team not only hosts 70+ Class A baseball games but potentially upwards of 200 events over the course of the calendar year. The ballpark features approximately 7,000 hard seats, lawn seating three outfield party decks and an upper deck level that contains two rooftop party areas, 13 party suites, one Super Suite and 16 tables in the premium seating area behind home plate. The ballpark includes four main concourse concession stands, an outside grilling area, several portables, a main storage warehouse and a main kitchen in the upper level as well as approximately 50-60 POS throughout. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Food and Beverage Director will be responsible for all aspects of the club's day to day food and beverage operations, which include: 

  • Leading a full-time staff of 3-5 employees as well as approximately 200 part-time employees
  • Previous experience in purchasing, menu creation, pricing, food presentation, food preparation, working with vendors and food brokers
  • Hiring employees
  • Managing and scheduling employees
  • Managing/maintaining food and labor costs to club's expectations
  • Maintaining equipment and operational cleanliness will be imperative
  • Being able to maintain the point of sale equipment, proper inventory control and produce sales reports will also be important
  • It will be necessary to balance daily event receipts versus POS and GOS
  • Running a clean and organized operation will be paramount
  • Previous experience with a current point of sale system will be a plus

In order to be successful, a good candidate will be able to create strong partnerships with other members of management as well as all vendors and employees. This position is hands-on as the culture is a team atmosphere instead of a strictly top-down delegation model. Candidates must be able to plan the F&B operation with a multi-pronged goal of a great culinary experience for customers at the same time as generating a strong revenue stream with solid margins to support the business. Nothing is more important to us than our brand promise of a great experience for our fans. 

REQUIREMENTS: 

  • College or Culinary/Trade School degree required
  • 7+ years supervisory experience in Food & Beverage field
  • Must present and communicate in a professional manner
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be organized with good time-management skills
  • Computer proficiency in Windows and Microsoft applications
  • Must possess strong basic math skill
  • Possess strong presentation, negotiation and closing skills
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently to meet or exceed goals
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
  • Additional skills may be required to perform additional tasks specific to work location, department or line of business

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Part-Time Employment

JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the Kane County Cougars Promotions Department, you will responsible for serving as a mascot with the intent of presenting Cougars fans with positive experiences. The Cougars are currently seeking mascots to do events and appearances in an as needed/part-time capacity with the potential for game day performance on an as needed/backup basis. 

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: 

  • NON-GAME DAY:
    • Appearances in the local community including races, festivals, contests, charitable causes, with the Cougar Crew Street Team, sponsors, etc. 
    • Appearances at Cougars outside events.
    • Conceptualize the mascots personality, antics, role in fan engagement and contribute new ideas for involvement in promotions, appearances, etc. 
    • Communication and collaboration with the Cougars promotions staff.
    • Professionalism in working with both staff members and fans.
    • Improvising and thinking on one's feet to make the best possible decisions in the moment.
  • GAME DAY
    • Pre-game meeting with staff members
    • Energetic pre-game, in-game and post-game presentation as directed by Cougars management staff, keeping in mind the family-friendly atmosphere and vision of the organization as we deliver an excellent show to fans. 
    • Participation in a post-game autograph session once per homestand
    • Professionalism in working with both staff members and fans
    • Adherence to game day agenda/run-down to meet requirements of group outings, birthdays, sponsorships, promotions, etc.

Internships

JOB SUMMARY: Fulfill the ticketing needs of all customers while providing them with excellent customer service

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  •  Assist customers who purchase tickets over the phone and in-person
  • Game day duties include assisting in the sales and operations of the Ticket Office during walk-up sales as well as servicing clients in-person and over the phone
  • Miscellaneous duties including, but not limited to, answering the main phone for customer service, assisting in the field tarp, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: 

  • Detail-oriented person to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment
