KANNAPOLIS, NC - On a beautiful Thursday night at Intimidators Stadium supported by Atrium Health, the Kannapolis Intimidators failed to change their losing ways, falling to the Hagerstown Suns, 10-5.
Kannapolis (4-9) did not contain Hagerstown early, giving up 10 hits and eight runs in the first three innings of the game. The Suns' biggest blow in the initial three frames was a K.J. Harrison three-run home run that scored Jacob Rhinesmith and Gilbert Lara.
Trey Vickers shined for the Suns, finishing just a single short of the cycle. Vickers drove in three Suns' runners via a second inning triple, a third inning double, and a solo home run in the seventh.
Hagerstown (7-8) starter Francys Peguero (W, 1-1) notched the win for the Suns, pitching five innings and giving up only four hits and striking out seven.
RHP Davis Martin (0-2) struggled to find the strike zone in his three innings pitched for Kannapolis, yielding 10 hits, eight runs, and only striking out two Suns' batters.
The Intimidators quickly made an adjustment to stop the bleeding, sending RHP Jason Bilous to the hill in relief of Martin. The former Coastal Carolina righty contained the Suns in his three frames of work, striking out two and allowing just two hits. RHP Wilber Perez and RHP Austin Conway followed Bilous on the bump, finishing off the night for Kannapolis.

The Intimidators found the offense late, getting two RBI from third baseman Luis Curbelo's eighth inning double to left-center, scoring Amado Nunez and Bryce Bush. A frame later, three Kannapolis runs came home off of five walks and two wild pitches in the ninth, with all but one of those runs being earned.
The rally came up a tad short for the Intimidators, as RHP Jonathan German shut the door for the Suns, pitching 0.2 innings, striking out one, and closing the game out to secure the Kannapolis defeat.
The Intimidators will look to snap their five-game losing streak Friday night in game two of the three-game tilt with the Hagerstown Suns. First pitch is slated for 7:00 p.m. Kannapolis will send LHP Konnor Pilkington to the hill to face Hagerstown's RHP Tomas Alastre for the Good Friday matchup.
