Davis Homers Twice Thursday at Wisconsin
GRAND CHUTE, WIS. - Jaylin Davis recorded his second multi-homer game this week, clubbing two home runs in a 6-3 Cedar Rapids Kernels victory Thursday over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at Neuroscience Group Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Davis' homers helped Cedar Rapids (24-16) rally from an early deficit to take the lead for good. He hit a game-tying solo shot in the second inning, and he produced a two-run blast during the fourth that gave the Kernels their first lead at 3-1. Davis ended Thursday's action with a league-high nine home runs, including five over the past three games.
In the sixth inning, the Kernels stretched their lead to 6-1. Davis opened the scoring by coming home on a passed ball.
Wisconsin (18-19) rallied in the ninth inning but only cut its deficit to 6-3.
Orimoloye lifted the Timber Rattlers to a quick 1-0 lead Thursday before the Kernels surged in front. Orimoloye recorded his team-high-tying seventh home run of the season on a first-inning solo shot.
