Cedar Rapids, IA - The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announce that RHP Derek Molina will join the Kernels from Extended Spring Training and RHP Randy Dobnak has been placed on the 7-day DL with a left groin strain. Jeremy Zoll, Twins Director of Minor League Operations, announced the move.

The Twins selected Molina in the 14th round of the 2017 First Year Player Draft out of Merced College in California. He pitched in 10 games for the GCL Twins in 2017 (2 starts) posting a 1-0 record, 1.08 ERA and four saves. In 16.2 IP, he allowed 12 hits and two runs (both earned) with 21 strikeouts against just three walks.

Dobnak was the starting pitcher in the Kernels 12-8 win at Peoria on April 12. He allowed eight runs (all earned) on 10 hits over 3.2 IP with a strikeout and two walks in a no-decision effort. He was signed by the Twins as a non-drafted free agent in 2017 out of Alderson Broaddus University (PA).

Molina is active and available for tonight's 6:30 PM game in Peoria. With today's transactions, the Kernels roster remains at the MWL maximum of 25 active players, with five players currently on the DL, one player on the suspended list and one player on the military leave list.

The Kernels wrap up a four-game road trip tonight at 6:30 PM in Peoria. They return to Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Friday, April 13th and host the Clinton LumberKings in a three-game series. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 6:35 PM with the gates opening at 5:30 PM.
