Kernels announce 2013 Theme Night schedule

Cedar Rapids, IA - The good times keep rolling as the Cedar Rapids Kernels announce their popular Theme Night schedule for 2013.

The season kicks off with Halfway to Halloween and Candy Drop on Sunday, April 28^th. Kids should come dressed in their favorite Halloween costume for a pre-game parade and costume contest. There will be trick or treat stations on the concourse during the game, and after the game, kids of all ages can go down onto the field for the Candy Drop as a helicopter flies over the stadium, dropping candy on the field.

The popular Star Wars Night returns on Saturday, May 25^th. And Jimmy Buffett Night is set for Saturday, August 3^rd, featuring a post-game concert by the Cedar Island Band. New theme nights include Racing (NASCAR) Night on May 16^th, Iowa Wrestling Night on May 30^th, Superman Movie Night on June 14^th, Halfway to Christmas on June 28^th and Game Show Night on July 12th. 2013 season ticket packages and 10-game coupon books are on sale now at the stadium, or by calling the Kernels at (319) 363-3887. Individual game tickets go on sale Monday, March 18^th at 10 am and fans may purchase them early by coming to the Sixth Annual Spring Fling on Saturday, March 16^th from 10 am to 2 pm at Veterans Memorial Stadium.

The 2013 Kernels arrive in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday, April 2^nd and the first chance to meet the new team is on Wednesday, April 3^rd as part of 'Meet the Kernels Night' from 5:00 to 7:30 pm. The Kernels open the 2013 MWL season on Thursday, April 4^th when they host the Beloit Snappers at 6:35 pm.
